Banks, Joy , Ph.D., University of Connecticut, Educational Psychology-Special Education.  Assistant Professor.  Research Interest: diagnostic and appropriate placement of students with special needs, reading instruction for students with special needs, and culturally responsive instruction.  Publications include articles on adolescent literacy preparation and teacher perceptions on educating African American boys.  banksj@cua.edu

 

Carole W. Brown, Ed. D., The George Washington University, Special Education/Early Childhood Education. Research Associate Professor. Research Interests: Early intervention with infants and families and programmatic and systems change in the disability field.  Publications include articles on implementation of disability policies, including eligibility and family policy and early intervention training materials. brownc@cua.edu

Coordinator of Special Education Program. Coordinator of Education Studies Program, Licenced Psycologist.  Research Interests: Latchkey Children, Child Care, Group Counseling, Parenting Styles, Special Education. Books and articles on Counselor Education, Latchkey Children, Parenting and Child Safety, as well as articles on Special Education. Elsie Neely, A.B.D., Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Administration and Supervision.  Director of Field Experiences at The Catholic University of America.  She has a range of experiences all in the Prince Georges County Public School System.  Ms. Neely was an elementary school teacher (all grades); and she has experience in middle and high school as an academic coach.  Ms. Neely was a consultant for Funds for Education Excellence a literacy program (Achievement First) in the Baltimore City Public Schools.  She was a Talented and Gifted Specialist, a Vice Principal, and a Principal. neely@cua.edu

Kathleen C. Perencevich, Ph.D., 2004, University of Maryland, Human Development/Educational Psychology.  Assistant Professor.  Research Interests: Motivation in academic settings; Engagement in reading; Cognitive processes of reading; Pre-service teacher education; and Teacher professional development.  perencevich@cua.edu

Merylann J. "Mimi" Schuttloffel, Ph.D., 1992, University of Tulsa, Educational Administration and Research.  Chair, Department of Education, Director, Catholic Educational Leadership Programs Coordinator, Leadership and Policy Studies Doctoral Program Visiting Professor, Life Cycle Institute.  Research Interests: Reflective Practice in Leadership, Innovation and School Change, Transformation of Educational Beliefs and Practice, and Catholic Identity Issues. Publications include The Contemplative Principal (1999) and articles on ethnographies of leadership and school reform. schuttloffel@cua.edu

Frank R. Yekovich, Ph.D., 1977, Arizona State University, Educational Psychology. Research Interests: Learning and Skill Acquisition, Development of Literacy, and Authentic Uses of Technology in Urban, Elementary Classrooms.  Publications include articles on expert-novice differences in approaches to tasks, and Assessing the Progress of Students in Whole Language Classrooms (1996). yekovich@cua.edu
