Graduate Teacher Certification Programs (GTCP)

The Department of Education is NCATE accredited and also offers Masters and Doctoral programs.

 

 

Please note: Admission to the Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education

programs is suspended until further notice.

SO YOU WANT TO BE A TEACHER?

This program is for you if:

  • Your goal is to become a certified special education or secondary education teacher and you have a college degree;
  • You are a career changer who wants to become a teacher;
  • You want to graduate from a fully accredited program that is both nationally and state accredited and includes certification reciprocity with 43 states, plus Department of Defense Schools; or
  • You have a provisional teaching license and want to be fully certified.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Call 202.319.5057 for an application or visit https://webapp.cua.edu/apply/ to apply online.
  • Complete and submit the application form with a non-refundable $55.00 application fee. 
  • Submit official college transcripts of all previous course work.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation.
  • Submit passing Praxis I Series scores in Reading (177), Writing (173), and Math (177). Visit ETS for registration information or call 1.800.853.6773. Request that your Praxis results be sent directly to The Catholic University of America.
  • Write a statement of goals that includes why you wish to be a teacher.
  • Submit application and all supporting documents to:
